As a minimum, MADES needs the assembly plan, Gerber files, manufacturing plans and bill of materials for each of the assemblies to be manufactured.
- The assembly plan
This should be in PDF format; CAD format is also acceptable (.dxf or .dwg)
Most clients prefer PDF format because it allows them to maintain the integrity of the information. The plan should show the requirements that need to be taken into account during manufacture and assembly, including tolerable limits such as the maximum height of components, cutting requirements, type of soldering process, and so on.
- The bill of materials (BOM)
This should be supplied in electronic format (Excel) so that it can be used directly in our quoting tools.
This bill should include the manufacturer reference, alternative codes, the identifier corresponding to the item in the assembly, the quantity used in each unit, etc. The bill of materials could also include specific details about consumables, such as the type of flux, adhesives, or other elements.
- Gerber files
The manufacturing plans will specify the requirements, materials and standards requested for the manufacture of the printed circuit board (PCB). These documents are essential for MADES to be able to produce an accurate quote for the PCB used in the assembly.
- The databases will be needed in ODB++ or CAD format before production, so that the production equipment can be programmed (placement equipment, automated solder and optical inspection (AOI/SPI), in-circuit test or flying probe, etc.). This data will also be needed during the manufacturability and testability analyses.
- If testing operations are required, the type of test could be specified (in-circuit, flying probe, functional, environmental, etc.). Otherwise, our engineering team will use the most suitable strategy based on the type of work required.
The functional test specifications should be included together with the Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) to be developed. We may need the above-mentioned databases along with the schematics and other operational information in order to provide you with the most accurate quote possible for the functional test operation. If the testing station needs to be developed, a document containing specific requirements should be supplied. - Any moulding requirements, adjustments, component programming, or any other modifications should be specified in the documents provided. If there are approved supply sources for a particular service or component, these should also be indicated in the documentation pack associated with the RFQ.
- Sub-assemblies which need to be obtained from third parties as pre-manufactured components, for example metal parts, boxes, electronic subsets, etc., should have the corresponding documents relating to their construction and/or full inspection.
